Dear Sweet Daddy, I Love You

Sixty-five years he blessed this earth,
All the gold in the world could not be worth...
My dear sweet Daddy.
He was always the same, so full of life;
Never showing or telling of his trouble and strife.
He had a smile for everyone;
I never saw a man that he would shun.
Wherever he was, there was laughter and joy;
Part of him seemed to still be a little boy;
For he loved everyone---young and old.
The people he has helped...half has never been told.
He loved the same wife for forty-seven years;
Together they had a lot of joys, sorrows, and tears.
But he was always a go-getter, never giving up.
And the happiness he spread---well, it would just fill and overflow your cup.
He had a closeness with his sisters and brothers.
A love....of caring for each other.
He was such a good daddy.
How can I say? For all of us, his children loved him in every way.
We never told him as often as we should,
That he was the best daddy, so kind and so good.
And to each grandchild whose heart is breaking,
For this dear 'Paw', the Lord has taken.
I must say to all, we will miss him so.
But we know that the Lord said it was time for him to go.
He fought a good battle...up to the end.
He lost the battle, but he won the victory, my friend.
For he's in rapture with Jesus there,
And I'm sure the angels are gathered around him to share
The wonderful man who always seemed to care.
So Daddy, dear Daddy, once more let me say,
Be happy with Jesus...we'll meet you some day.
Dear Daddy, sweet Daddy... I love you!
