Be it remembered that I David Whisenhunt being of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following and this the first, I wish that from what property I may die possessed of a sufficient sum may be raised to pay all my just debts, this property to be sold to best advantage at the discretion of my Executors. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rachel Whisenhunt all the residue of my estate both real an personal during her natural life or widowhood, and at her death or marriage, des'd estate to be equally divided amongst my four children namely, Elizabeth, Holland, Doctor, and Nancy Whisenhunt. Note* | In 1819, John owned land in Randolph Co., NC. He and his family, his parents, brothers, and sisters, moved from Randolph County, North Carolina between 1821 and 1824. Within the next few years they were to arrive in Carroll County, Georgia, but not before a brief stay in Tennessee. They arrived in Carroll County, Georgia between 1824 and 1828. Shortly after his father's death in 1849, the family was again on the move. His mother and most of her children, including John, moved west into Arkansas, and some of them on into Texas. We find John settled near Lockesburg, in Sevier County, Arkansas around 1859. He spent his remaining years in Sevier County.
Author's note: In the John Whisenhunt household, 1830 Carroll County, GA census, I find two additional children listed which I am unable to identify; one additional male and female born between 1822 and 1826. |
