He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A & M University, class of 1949. He served as First Lieutenant in Germany with the Seventeenth Armored Engineer Battalion of the Second Armored Division. After spending four years on active duty, he returned to Texas A & M and received a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1955, and was elected a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He enjoyed a very successful 38 year career in the Aerospace industry working for Lockheed Martin Vought Systems and its predecessor companies. His career which was initiated with contributions to fighter jet aircraft programs extended into the space age with participation in the early NASA manned space flight program, the Apollo Lunar Landing program, the Scout satellite launch vehicle, the currently operational Space Shuttle Orbiter and the emerging International Space Station Program. He participated in all program phases from concept definition through product delivery as well as operational flight support. He was highly respected by his many professional colleagues in the contractor and government customer community. He received many honors and commendations including, NASA's Public Service Award. In 1994, he retired from his position as Director of Space Programs.
